Many of the soldering irons at TechSpark were missing the plastic insert in which the soldering iron rested when it was not being used. I took some measurements on one of the remaining holders and recreated the design in SOLIDWORKS. I slightly modified the design so that the holder could be printed with limited/no support material. And voila ... all soldering irons were back in business.Â
I was asked to design a CMU keychain for a TechSpark event. I sought inspiration online and used Inkscape to create a Scotty dog engraved with a scarf and the letters "CMU". I tested the design in both acrylic and wood and decided that wood engraving was the most aesthetically pleasing. Then I laser cut a small army of Scotty dogs and turned them into keychains. Cute.
